Suzuki has announced UK pricing for the all-new Vitara, which will go on sale in April from £13,999. That’s the price of the base SZ4 model fitted with the 1.6-liter petrol engine with front-wheel drive.
Available in SZ4, SZ-T and SZ5 grades, the new Vitara can be had with two engines: a 1.6-liter petrol and a 1.6-liter diesel, both with 120PS (118hp). Standard equipment for the base SZ4 trim includes seven airbags, 16-inch alloy wheels, DAB Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control with speed limiter, auto air conditioning, front and rear electric windows and projector headlamps.
The SZ-T trim adds 17-inch silver painted alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, Smartphone link audio and navigation system, while the SZ5 also gains LED headlights, 17-inch polished alloy wheels, suede seat fabric, keyless entry with start button, Adaptive Cruise Control, Radar Brake Support and Panoramic sunroof.
Suzuki also offers two packages for those who want to make their Vitara look different. The Urban package adds chrome-plated fog lamp bezels, body-side moldings and a roof spoiler, while the Rugged package features front and rear skid plates, fog lamp bezels, body-side moldings, and loading edge protection. Each package costs £500.
The Vitara is also offered with the Allgrip AWD system, available as an option on SZ5 models. The 1.6-liter petrol engine is mated to a standard five-speed manual transmission, but a new six-speed automatic will be available from summer 2015 for SZ5 petrol models. The 1.6-liter diesel is exclusively available with a six-speed manual transmission.
The diesel is obviously the most economical engine of the range, returning 70.6 mpg UK (4 l/100 km or 58.8 mpg US) on the European combined cycle with FWD, with CO2 emissions of 106 g/km.
