Chevrolet will debut three special edition trucks at the Chicago Auto Show: the Silverado Midnight, Colorado GearOn and Silverado Custom. If the latter name sounds familiar, it’s because of the Silverado Custom Sport special edition released at the Detroit Auto Show. However, the Silverado Custom is different.
Unlike more luxurious versions like the Silverado High Country, the Custom is aimed at buyers looking for an affordable truck, but not a stripped-out version. Based on the double-cab Silverado LS, the Custom package brings more style thanks to 20-inch aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers, a body-colored top cap above the front bumper, as well as chrome mirror caps and door handles.
Standard features include four full doors for easier access to the front and rear seats, a 40/20/40 cloth front seat, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power windows and door locks, and Chevy MyLink with 4G LTE WiFi.
Chevrolet expects most customers to opt for the available 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine, which produces 355hp and 383lb-ft (519Nm) of torque and returns up to 23 mpg (10.2 l/100 km) EPA estimated highway. The standard engine for Silverado Custom trucks is the 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V6, which produces 285hp and 305lb-ft (413Nm) of torque.
Chevrolet will start taking orders this month, with prices starting from $33,820 for the Silverado Custom fitted with the optional V8, 2WD and color-keyed carpeting. A similarly equipped 4×4 starts at $37,800.
