For the third consecutive year, the Ford Fiesta was Europe’s best-selling small car in 2014, when 308,999 units were sold on the continent.

One of the most popular models is the Fiesta 1.0-liter EcoBoost, equipped with Ford’s three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which also in 2014 was named International Engine of the Year for the third consecutive year. In standard form, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine produces 100PS (99hp), but it is also offered in a more powerful version with 125PS (123hp).

“Cutting-edge styling and advanced technology are the keys to Fiesta’s continued popularity and models like the distinctive, two-tone Red and Black Editions with the new 140 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine continue to keep Fiesta ahead of the pack,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.

Starting this month, Ford will increase Fiesta production at the Cologne plant by 300 units a day to 1,850 vehicles. The automaker also scheduled six additional weekend shifts in January and February to meet demand for the supermini.
