Even though Roxanne Rimer was in handcuffs, that didn’t stop her from stealing a police car leading officers on a high-speed chase that was recorded on the cruiser’s dashcam!
At Rimer’s preliminary hearing on Monday, Center Township police testified that a loss prevention officer detained the young woman after allegedly stealing earrings from a Kohl’s department store on January 14, said a report from WTAE.
However, Rimer, who purportedly gave a fake name and claimed to be a juvenile, managed to run away and get into a car driven by her grandfather before the cops arrived.
Moments later, police officers pulled over that car and removed Rimer who was placed in handcuffs in the back seat of a second cruiser. While officers were searching her grandfather’s car, Rimer was somehow able to slip through the police cruiser’s front seat partition and get behind the steering wheel.
In the dashcam video released by Center Township police, we see Rimer ramming into her grandfather’s vehicle and pushing it to drive away. She allegedly reached speeds of up to 100mph (160km/h), while at the 8 1/2 minute mark, she even stopped to ask a civilian, “Hello, can you help me? Can you help me drive please?”!
The young woman then abandoned the car and tried to flee into the woods but she was arrested and now faces a number of charges.
