Mercedes AMG GT Roadster Rendered with Retractable Hard Top

A Mercedes AMG GT Roadster is a possibility, as Mercedes-AMG chairman Tobias Moers hinted in a report late last year.

We’ve already seen a rendering of an AMG GT Roadster with a soft top from Remco Meulendijk, and now another Photoshop master, Theophilus Chin, has virtually taken the roof off the AMG GT.

But this time, AMG’s sports car has been imagined with a retractable hard top, similar to the one used by Mercedes’ flagship convertible model, the SL. I don’t know how logical it would be for Mercedes to offer a metal roof, given that the SL has one too and it would put the AMG GT too close to its territory.

Besides, a much lighter soft top would fit the AMG GT better, since we’re talking about a quintessential sports car and not a luxury cruiser. But regardless of the roof type, it would be such a shame for Mercedes not to build a drop top AMG GT, since these renderings prove it would look stunning.
