It seems that there is a point when sheer luxury is trumped by other more desirable concepts, like that of having more time. BMW is aware of this and is working to offer its customers more of it through tech and features.
Stuff like being able to remotely heat your car, self-parking, traffic alerts and their “genius program” for dealerships is all aimed at offering more time.
We don’t know what this means exactly, but we can assume it’s BMW also reaffirming their commitment to “highly automated vehicles,” as Ian Robertson, BMW AG board member for sales and marketing told Autonews.
He explained that automation is useful for those instances when “driving is no fun.”
It seems the manufacturer is working in quite different areas of its operation, and it’s even expanding. For instance, it’s developed a “smart lamppost” that also has a charge port for EVs which is designed to be 70 percent than conventional solutions.
That way, the charging infrastructure will be able to spread quicker, bringing the manufacturer’s affinity for low-/no-emissions vehicles and this new quest for more time.
