On December 29, 2013, the world was shocked to hear that the seven-time F1 champ Michael Schumacher had been severely injured in a skiing accident in the French Alps and was comatose.
The response to Schumacher’s condition was massive, especially from the tifosi. Even though he had left Maranello, Ferrari fans still thought of him as one of their own, since he was the one that led the Scuderia’s resurgence.
After spending nine months in the hospital, he was moved last September at his home, where he still receives medical care. There have even been some reports recently, from a French newspaper which quoted former F1 driver Philippe Streiff, that he was making progress.
Long-time Schumacher’s spokesperson, Sabine Kehm, clarified the situation. “We need a long time – it’s going to be a long time and a hard fight”, she told Reuters. “He is making progress appropriate to the severity of the situation. I cannot confirm that report. I can only confirm that I do not know where Mr. Streiff has his information from, because he has no contact with us and never has.”
