We already knew that Lotus was bringing a refreshed version of its Evora (pictured) to next year’s Geneva motor show but now we have news of more variants based on it. There have even been talks of turning it into a crossover, on top of the obligatory roadster they should have made by now…
CAR magazine says the Evora crossover is already in development and that it will receive “rough-roader treatment” similar to that of the “Audi TT Offroad concept.”
The move is supposedly aimed at attracting American and Chinese buyers and increase the brand’s reach. It will obviously come with raised suspension to offer more ground clearance and travel, but it will remain strictly rear-wheel driven and probably not all that different, from what we understand.
The revised Evora will feature several changes/improvements over the current model. It’s apparently getting narrower and lower sill for improved access and more powerful engines as well.
The roadster should be interesting to watch out for too and we’re assured by new Lotus boss Jean-Marc Gales that “there’s nothing this side of £100,000 that will beat it on a track – unless it’s another Lotus.”
