There seems to be a bit of a weather theme going around driving/racing game development studios these days. All of the latest titles have got it, whether it’s dynamic or not, but now the devs behind Forza Horizon 2 have one-upped everybody else with their new “extreme weather.”
It comes as part of a DLC-expansion which also adds an entire island to explore. They don’t say if it’s a real place, but do point out it’s “somewhere off the coast” and just call it “Storm Island,” which incidentally is also the name of the downloadable addon.
The extreme weather makes the island look amazing, as the series of IGN videos posted below illustrated. It also seems to focus more on off-road racing, and it’s also a bit of a technical showcase for simulated gale-force winds can do to physics-enabled trees (all nicely post-processed) – the devs showing off…
Several new vehicles are also part of the pack, including the Dakar MINI, as well as a series of new types of challenges (most of which are located on the new island). It launches today solely for the Xbox One version of Horizon 2.
