For those customers who find black is a color a bit too discreet for their tastes, Brabus is now offering the range-topping 850 model in gold too.
The satin gold paint is accented by carbon fiber elements, while the interior features a two-tone leather upholstery that combines satin gold with white.
Based on the Mercedes S63 AMG, the Brabus 850 features a thoroughly reworked version of the twin-turbo V8 engine, which features an increased displacement (5.9-liter), as well as newly developed engine components and special turbochargers that feature a larger compressor unit. All these plus the modified exhaust manifolds bring an additional 261hp (265PS) over the stock engine, for a total of 850PS (838hp).
Mated to a modified AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission, the engine develops a peak torque of 1,450 Nm (1,069 lb-ft), but is limited to 1,150 Nm (848 lb-ft) between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm to protect the powertrain.
Brabus didn’t reveal performance numbers, but they should be similar to the iBusiness model revealed last year which features the same engine. The iBusiness sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), with Brabus calling it “the fastest and most powerful luxury sedan in the world.”
