If you thought MTV’s Super Sweet 16 reality series was preposterous wait until you get a load of this: rapper Lil Wayne and his ex-wife gifted their teen daughter Reginae a new BMW X4 and a…Ferrari 599 GTO for her 16th birthday.
Celebrity news website TMZ that covered the story from every single angle said the BMW X4 M Sport was a gift from Reginae’s famous dad and the Ferrari 599 GTO, of which only 599 were produced, with only around 125 coming to the States, from her mother and step-father.
Who knows if they meant it, did it to compete for her affection, to flaunt their wealth or just to get themselves under the spotlight one more time – it doesn’t really matter, and we won’t get into this conversation here; it’s their money, they can do as they please.
However, I think there’s something disturbing about giving a teen a hardcore Italian supercar with 670PS (661hp). In fact, it would be irresponsible to give this exotic and super powerful machine to anyone without enough experience behind the wheel, let alone a 16-year old kid.
And if what TMZ reported – “We’re told Wayne, Toya [her mother] and Memphitz [her stepfather] all agreed Reginae was a capable driver who could handle such a powerful car — even though her day-to-day whip will be the BMW Weezy bought” is true and they believe what they say, someone might need to inform them about the perils of driving a track-focused supercar.
But again, it might be all show; you can never really know with celebrities these days, can you now…
