Aside from the 160 and 620R, Caterham’s model names are not the easiest to understand. That’s why the manufacturer is going to reportedly release three new models to sit in between the bottom and top of the range offerings, and these new models will be more simply named so as to avoid confusion.

According to Autocar, the new models “will get power upgrades and styling changes over the models they replace in the middle of Caterham’s range,” while at the same time being offered with a selection of upgrade packs that enhance performance.

Current mid-level offerings include the Roadsport, the Supersport or the Superlight – these will most likely be replaced with models whose horsepower figure will be included in the name (like the 160 and 620R).

The CSR (pictured) will still remain the most advanced model, though, featuring its standard wider chassis “for increased comfort and space,” plus its fully-independent rear suspension setup. It may make less power than the 620R and be slower overall, it’s probably the more desirable of the two.
