In the past year or so, the motoring press has drawn a line between the “analogue” supercars of years past and the “digital” hypercars that Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren have rolled out.
Unlike their predecessors, the LaFerrari, 918 Spyder and P1 are all hybrids and feature an array of electronic systems. This has many pundits wondering whether the raw driving experience has been somehow compromised in the name of eco-friendliness.
In terms of performance, the new breed absolutely murders the old cars since their output is in the ballpark of 900HP, give or take a few horses, which puts them in another level compared to, say, the not exactly puny 651HP of the Ferrari Enzo…
British publication evo managed to get its hands on the 918 Spyder and the P1. The Anglesey track was chosen for road test editor Jethro Bovingdon to find out a. whether the two hypercars delivered the driving experience to satisfy the enthusiast and b. how fast they can lap the tricky circuit.
