Android has finally reached dashboard-mounted touchscreens and if you’ve seen the latest mobile version of the operating system, it will be instantly familiar. That’s what Consumer Reports says after having had a chance to try it out at the Los Angeles motor show this week.
Judging by their footage, it looks crisp and runs really well – they tried it out on the latest Hyundai Sonata. It offers easy access to Google maps and allows for reading of text messages, as well as composing them via voice command too.
Android Auto will probably be very prolific in the industry, an industry plagued by mediocre infotainment software that’s been bugging drivers for a good few years now. It’s set to be used by a very wide range of manufacturers – the official site currently lists 40 names, but it’s bound to grow, as Google proceeds towards monopolizing yet another sector…
