Now that we know the nitty-gritty regarding Ford’s 2016 Explorer, let’s take a video tour around the refreshed mid-size SUV, shall we?
It could be just me, but I find the Explorer’s newly designed front end less modern and as Dan put it, less cohesive as well, compared to the original model, and I’d say that the same applies to the changes made to rear too.
On the other hand, you can’t argue with the new 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo that replaces the 2.0-liter unit, as it’s not only more powerful producing at least 270hp and 300 lb-ft (406 Nm), but Ford also promises that it anticipates “no sacrifice in overall fuel efficiency”, so it’s a win-win situation for prospective drivers. Plus, unlike the FWD-only 2.0 EcoBoost model, it will be available with all-wheel drive.
The 2016 Explorer will have its world premiere at the LA Auto Show today and go on sale next summer.
