We already know the Mercedes AMG GT is priced comparably to a Porsche 911 Carrera4S in Germany, so it’s UK pricing scheme is not surprising.
In the UK, the cheapest variant kicks off at £97,195, and prices rise to £122,745 if you’re after a specced up GT S Edition 1 model.
However, be warned that if you want the base GT, you’ll have to wait until “late 2015.” That’s when the first such variants are to hit UK shores, so before then you’ll heave to either go for a GT S or a GT S Edition 1. The former costs £110,495 and comes with 510 hp, instead of the GT’s 462 hp and other upgrades you probably already know about.
The top-spec Edition 1 gets a fixed rear wing, a deep front splitter, as well as unique rims that measure 19 inches up front and 20 round the back. A carbon roof is also added, while inside “red contrast stitching is joined by a leather and suede finish for the special AMG performance seats and the steering wheel and a centre console in ‘Black Diamond’ textured finish.”
Noteworthy options include the £5,995 ceramic composite brakes pack, the £4,195 Premium Pack (which features a reversing camera, a mirror package, a fixed panoramic sunroof, a Burmester sound system and keyless-go) and the £1,795 AMG Dynamic Plus Package. The latter adds “cutting-edge dynamic engine mounts to deliver greater steering feel and refinement when desired through either stiffening or softening the engine and transmission mounts. The result means the GT can strike a balance between being driven hard, and being viable for everyday use.”
