VW has introduced five new Euro6 engines and the second generation modular infotainment system (MIB) on the Beetle and Beetle Cabriolet in Europe.

Three new petrol engines (105PS, 150PS and 220PS) and two diesel units (110PS and 150PS) were introduced, all more fuel-efficient than their forerunners. For example, the top-of-the-range 2.0 TSI engine is 9PS more powerful than its predecessor while consuming 13 percent less fuel. The base diesel engine, the 2.0 TDI, is the most fuel-efficient engine in the lineup, with CO2 emissions of 112 g/km.

The Beetle also gets the optional “Discover Media” navigation system, as well as assistance systems from other models including the “Rear View” reversing camera, “Rear Traffic Alert” which provides assistance when reversing out of a parking space, and the “Blind Spot” sensor. The coasting function of the dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) is another new feature, automatically shifting to neutral when there is no acceleration.

New mobile services such as weather or traffic information have also been introduced on the Beetle and can be accessed online by customers via the MIB. Finally, new individualization options are available for the interior, including new color packages “Tornado Red”, “Pure White” and “Reflex Silver Metallic”.

Prices in Germany start from €17,825 ($22,235) for the coupe and €22,125 ($27,600) for the cabriolet.
