Start your engines and take a walk with us through the aisles of this year’s edition of SEMA, the Mecca of aftermarket and customization shows.
Quantity doesn’t always equal quality, but it’s hard to argue with the sheer number of modified metal that made its way to the Las Vegas Convention Center.
We’re not talking dozens, but many hundreds of uniquely fabricated concept and tuned production cars together with countless automotive products from some 2,500 exhibitors spread out over a million square feet of space – and all for good reason, as SEMA CEO Christ Kersting pointed out.
“The $33B specialty equipment market is not only big business. In 2013, the availability of accessories influenced more than 1.7 million new-vehicle purchases,” said Kersting. “Nearly a third of new-vehicle purchase decisions were driven by the availability of accessories for a particular model, and nearly 1 in 10 consumers decided to buy a particular vehicle after seeing a modified version of it.”
