Ford has previewed two radically different concept cars for the SEMA Show based on the all-new 2015 F-150 pickup truck.
Ford hopes for a fifth consecutive “Hottest Truck” award this November at the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show (SEMA) as it will unveil two custom versions of the F-150, one dedicated to off-road enthusiasts and the other aimed at those who want their trucks to be really fast on the street.
The Deegan 38 project is the work of Ford Racing’s Brian Deegan, who has envisioned a hardcore Ford F-150 for off-road racing. Powered by the 3.5-liter, twin-turbo EcoBoost engine, the truck has been tweaked by companies including Addictive Desert Designs, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels, FOX Racing Shox, KC Hilites, Mastercraft Safety, Rockford Fosgate, Full-Race Motorsports, Leading Edge Tuning, ProEFI and SCT Performance.
Together with all these partners, Ford is showing the customizing potential of the all-new F-150 when it comes to extreme off-roading. “This F-150 should inspire the vast off-road, extreme-lifestyle-loving fan base to push the possibilities of the kick-ass new 2015 F-150 and the awesome 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine,” said Brian Deegan.
The second F-150 concept vehicle is the Vaughn Gittin Jr. street truck, built by Formula DRIFT superstar Vaughn Gittin Jr. Boasting 12 inches (304.8mm) of King shock-controlled travel via a Kibbetech custom suspension, this purpose-built 2015 F-150 is “designed to take full advantage of the weight savings and serious torque offered by the all-new F-150,” according to Ford.
Fitted with Recaro seats, the truck features aggressive looks thanks to its lowered suspension, custom grille and wheels. “I love trucks, and to build one that has daily on- and off-road capabilities, as well as drifting and jumping capabilities is something I have always wanted to do,” said Gittin. “I am really pumped to get crazy in this F-150 at SEMA this year,” he added.
