The Audi TT Sportback is certainly one of the most photographed cars at this year’s Paris Auto Show, and for good reason.
Audi designers managed to transfer the TT’s traditional lines on a more practical bodywork, without losing any of the attractiveness in the process – on the contrary, I dare say that the TT Sportback looks better than the TT Coupe and Roadster.
The question on everyone’s lips is obviously if Audi is going to build it, but news are not that good on this front. While Audi said it will launch a new TT spin-off model, the automaker’s technical chief Ulrich Hackenberg said that model is more likely to be a TT crossover than a production model inspired by the TT Sportback.
“We know there is a demand for cars like this – customers have already been coming to us and saying they want a car like the TT Sportback,” Hackenberg told CAR Magazine. However, he added that the TT Offroad Concept revealed earlier this year at the Beijing Auto Show has better chances of spawning a production model.
“We showed a Q TT concept in Beijing – it was very emotional. From the market point of view, I would say this is the most likely version for us to do. But from a technical and industrial point of view, the TT Sportback you see here in Paris has its merits,” Hackenberg explained.
Let’s not forget the three-door Allroad Shooting Brake concept unveiled at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, which could be a third option. Hackenberg added that a decision on which body style will become a production model will be taken in the next few weeks. I’m sure each of you has a favorite among the three TT studies, so you can cast your vote in the poll added below.
