Bentley and Vertu have revealed the first smartphone from their co-designed “Vertu for Bentley” line announced in July this year as part of a five-year partnership.
Available in selected Vertu boutiques from October, the smartphone will be built in a limited run of 2,000 units and has a price worthy of the Bentley logo: £10,700 in the UK, €12,500 in the EU and $17,100 in the US.
Featuring exclusive Bentley content delivered via an on-device app, the Vertu for Bentley handset features quilted calf leather in the classic Bentley shade of Newmarket Tan, stitched with a diamond pattern.
The leather is encased in durable but light titanium, which features tactile diamond knurling. This detailing on the side rails is complemented by an engine-turned pattern on the handset’s titanium back plate. The plate opens to reveal the engraved signature of the craftsman who meticulously constructed the phone, from start to finish, at Vertu’s headquarters in Church Crookham, England.
Each “Vertu for Bentley” phone sports a discrete, metal Bentley “B” wings motif on the face of the handset, while the complimentary slip case which accompanies every phone also depicts the Bentley logo, embossed on the Newmarket Tan calf leather.
The Android 4.4-based luxury smartphone features exclusive services including a dedicated “Vertu Concierge” service, curated events and experiences via “Vertu Life”, as well as security services from “Vertu Certainty”. There’s also a unique “Vertu for Bentley” app, which delivers exclusive Bentley content directly to the device.
The phone’s acoustics have been tuned in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen, with other features including Dolby Digital Plus virtual surround-sound processing and stereo speakers. The image tuning of the 13 MP camera was done by professional photography brand Hasselblad.
