The previous generation i20 was a solid all-round car that final rid Hyundai of its Getz-era stigma, putting it much closer to the establishment than ever.
Now, with the all-new i20, it’s trying to beat it at its own game, offering a very stylish, practical and efficient city car to do battle with the Renault Clio, Ford Fiesta and Skoda Fabia.
The all-new i20 is a big departure form its predecessor, particularly in terms of styling. Before, it looked like a bit of a blob, with cues visibly borrowed from rivals, but this design effort is far more cohesive and seriously boosts the car’s desirability in these style-conscious times.
Inside, everything is all-new, and forgive us for comparing it to rivals and its predecessor, but the dashboard layout and design owes everything to Skoda/VW.
WhatCar? previewed the i20 and it really is a very impressive package, and a unique buy in the sector.
