Two official images of Fiat’s new 500X small crossover have emerged on the internet less than 24 hours before the car’s launch at the 2014 Paris Auto Show.
The resemblance with the 500 city car and the bigger 500L is strong, from the rounded headlamps and fog lights to the prominent front-end grille design with chrome trim. And just like the similarly sized 500L Trekking, it has a more masculine vibe to it with rugged body cladding and a jacked up suspension.
It’s a sister car to the Jeep Renegade with which it shares its modified SCCS platform architecture that underpins the Fiat Punto and Opel / Vauxhall Corsa superminis.
Fiat has been quiet about the 500X’s powertrains but expect it to be available with the firm’s usual MultiJet diesel and TwinAir petrol engines in two- or four-wheel drive configurations.
