Just a few months after Citroen presented the C3-XR Concept at the Beijing Auto Show, the French have announced the production version of the small SUV that will go on sale in China this December.
While the new C3-XR is Citroen’s iteration of the successful in Europe Peugeot 2008, the automaker has made no mention of any plans to sell it anywhere else but China, where it will be built by Citroen and its local partner DongFeng Motor Group.
Only a handful of changes were made to the production car’s styling over the concept, such as the less fancy headlamp clusters and the new rear bumper trims and exhaust pipes.
The C3-XR will be sold in China with a 160PS (158hp) 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine with Stop&Start technology to boost fuel economy and minimize CO2 emissions, paired to a standard 6-speed automatic gearbox turning the front wheels.
