The wait for the BMW M5-rivaling Lexus GS F has just gotten more interesting, through a rumor that suggests it could use the same non-turbo V8 as the RC-F, but with some extra power.
This may mean Lexus isn’t interested in the Germans’ silly power pissing contest, since it seems unlikely to gain that much more oomph without adding turbos – the RC-F makes 425 hp.
Lexus being Lexus could make up the difference via electric motors and batteries. Autocar says no, though, and insists power will stay boost-less and under 500 hp.
Styling wise, the GS F is expected to borrow the RC F’s dramatic front fascia design and pepper it with unique touches around the rest of the body. It won’t be an RC F saloon, as that model is actually planned too. Yep, that’s right, the source report also hints at a possible BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe rival from Lexus, an RC (F) with four doors.
Whichever the case may be, both the latter and the GS F are set to launch in 2016; the GS debuts in the metal at the Los Angeles motor show this November.
