Just before the revised Falcon FG X goes on sale in November, Ford Australia released some new photos and information on the series that includes six sedans and five pickup truck versions.

The facelift gives the last Australian-made Falcon a Mondeo/Fusion feel with new front and rear fascias with chiseled headlamps and split LED tail lamps, a fresh assortment of wheel designs and colors, plus a lightly revised interior with a new 8-inch Sync2 infotainment screen that’s standard across the range.

Other updates include the addition of an emergency assistance function that automatically calls emergency services in case of an accident.

Aside from the addition of a V8 (for non-FPV models) for the first time since the beginning of the decade, details of which were withheld, the only other update is the 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost, which is slightly less powerful at 176kW / 236hp and 340Nm versus 179kW / 240hp and 353Nm for better fuel economy.

Ford’s six cylinder offerings remain unchanged and include a 195kW / 262hp 4.0-liter petrol, a 198kW / 266hp LPG version of the same unit and a turbocharged 4.0-liter petrol delivering 270kW / 362hp.

The locally-made Falcon will cease production in 2016.
