If you haven’t heard by now, Max Verstappen is the youngest Formula One driver in the sport’s history, having been signed by the Scuderia Toro Rosso for the 2015 season.

A son of former Dutch Formula One driver Jos Verstappen, the 16-year-old had the chance to drive one of Toro Rosso’s cars for the first time during last weekend’s VKV City Racing 2014 event held on the streets of Rotterdam.

Unfortunately for the young driver, his demonstrative laps on the improvised circuit didn’t end well, as he finished a session of burnouts and donuts by crashing the car’s front into the guard rails. That was probably due to a combination of nervousness and eagerness to impress.

Let’s look at the bright side, though, at least he’s got to crash a Toro Rosso F1 car while kids his age can’t even legally drive in Europe.
