Bentley actually made a one-off Mulsanne drop top that it only showed to a “select few,” but in the end it was decided not to go ahead with production plans. This was announced by (post-Duerheimer) company CEO, Wolfgang Schreiber, in an official manner, so we had no choice but to believe it.

Now, Wolfgang Duerheimer has been brought back as the head of Bentley and Bugatti, after a short experience as R&D chief at Audi, and he wants to put the project back on track.

According to Autonews, he said: “When I returned, I was a bit irritated by the fact that no work had been done on this project in two years,” though he wanted to make sure there is no doubt about the fact that “it is back on track.”

The model is expected to be called the Azure, and it would obviously specifically target the world’s most luxurious and expensive drop tops, especially those from Rolls Royce.
