While not a bad vehicle by any means, the Subaru Tribeca (pictured) just didn’t tickle buyers fancy in the US, while the lack of a diesel made virtually all European buyers look elsewhere.
Subaru is finally pulling the plug on it this year, and at first, it was believed that no model would be created to fill its spot in the range.
According to Cars.com, which obtained a statement from Subaru’s US communications manager, Dominick Infante, Subaru is “actively working on a next-generation three-row,” and that they’re “bit giving up on it.”
The commitment to try again after an obvious failure is commendable, but they need to take a very good look at the market this time, in order to pitch their future model to an actual group of existing buyers, unlike last time…
However, it’s still very early to tell what the result will be like. Apparently, the internal debate is between a “bigger Outback,” or a Mazda CX-9 approach.
