Smart has kept the formula for its ForTwo model pretty much the same as before, and even refrained itself from making it bigger, like most rivals are doing. It is noticeably wider than before (by 10 cm / ~4 in), though, and it’s also finally available with a manual (five-speed) gearbox.
The ForFour is radically different to its predecessor. Gone are the Mitsubishi Colt underpinnings and oddly styled body and in its place we find something much simpler – a stretched ForTwo, with two extra doors and (individual rear) seats.
As WhatCar? explains in the static preview video posted below, the ForTwo is pretty straightforward and will appeal to the same clientele as before.
The only questions surround the slightly awkward-looking ForFour, a car that clearly looks like the Renault Twingo, only not as cute. At least this time it’s a real Smart and even though its shape is unusual, at least you can now see the family connection.
