You’d think that placing a Renault Clio Cup (a full-blown racing car, but one with only 220 hp) against an Audi R8 V10 Plus would be daft and not really serve to prove any points. You’d be absolutely right, but you will watch the video below until the end just to see how the two cars compare on track.
The Audi, running on normal street tires, is taken out to set a benchmark lap first. It’s praised for the usual qualities R8s get praised for: good handling, neutrality, predictability and sheer performance from its V10.
The Clio is a completely different animal, but it is an animal nonetheless. It’s stripped out bare, has a slight boost in power compared to the street car it’s based on and runs on racing slicks – racing suspension setup is obviously a must and it also gives the wheels a lot of negative camber that looks quite cool…
EVO takes both cars around the same track, and while the Audi wins, you’d really not expect the margin to be as small as it was.
