Our spies in Germany have scored the best pictures to date of the 2015/2016 Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, as following an initial sighting of a bagged-up prototype (see second set below), GM removed the black covers leaving only the body wrap to blur the details.
The cattle catcher-style grille with the vertical slats has appeared on all of Cadillac’s next generation “V” high-performance prototypes, including the CTS-V and ATS-V Sedan, and the ATS-V Coupe is no exception. Still, at this point, we’re not sure if this is the V series’ new signature grille piece or if Cadillac is just using it on the testers.
Cadillac’s new hot coupe and BMW M4 fighter has a pumped-up body with a hood scoop, brawnier bumpers, rocker panels, a rear diffuser and apron combo that hugs the entire rear section, together with a neat set of quad pipes.
Even if you tried, you can’t miss the huge brake disks behind the tall alloy wheels shod in wide rubber.
Unless Cadillac surprises us with a V8 as some reports have suggested, the ATS-V series in both Sedan and Coupe body styles should get the CTS V Sport’s 3.6-liter twin-turbo’d V6 sending some 420 or more horses to the rear wheels. Whether it will do it through an 8-speed automatic, a six or seven-speed manual, or a dual-clutch transmission, remains a mystery for now.
