The GRID series is the kind of experience you like if car customization in racing games in general really isn’t your thing, yet you like a good physics engine, damage mode and a generally track-focused approach to the genre.
The last game in the series was GRID 2, which came out in 2013, and now they want to add a new installment, called GRID Autosport. It aims to bring back the cockpit camera that had been absent from last year’s title and promises 100 alternative routes through 22 distinct locations (twice as many as GRID 2).
Available game modes will revolve around driving touring cars or open-wheel vehicles, endurance events, drift competitions and even street races.
One aspect of the racing experience that GRID has always gotten right is the car handling, which while not 100 percent simulator, never felt like Mario Kart while at the same time it allowed players to drive smoothly – even using the dreaded keyboard…
The game ships June 24 on PC and old-gen consoles (Xbox360 and PlayStation3).
