We already have a very powerful and fast Audi A1, in the form of the S1, with its 228 hp and six-second sprint time to sixty. The S1 has Quattro all-wheel drive yet is by all definition a compact hot hatch battling it out with the MINI, the Citroen DS3, the Renault Clio RS or the Alfa Romeo MiTo QV.
However, over at Design RM, they’ve created a digital interpretation of what an RS1 model based on the A1 would be like. What they’ve done is graft on what looks like an RS6 front bumper and some meaner, bigger wheels. The exhausts are also different as is, of course, the “RS1” badging.
The car imagined here is the five-door Sportback model, though if Audi were to make this, they’d probably keep it three-door only to maximize performance and exclusivity at the same time, since it wouldn’t necessarily be for everybody, so most would still buy the tamer S1.
Power from the predictable choice that is VW Golf GTI-sourced 2.0-liter turbo should be close to the 300 hp mark. We have heard talks of RS1 Audis before, but so far nothing in the way of official confirmation of its development.
