LEGO has unveiled a Mini Cooper brick replica that will no doubt serve as the perfect excuse for dads to spend more time with their children.

A follow up to the spectacular Volkswagen T1 Camper Van, the replica of the classic Mini Cooper Mk7 (built between 1996 and 2000), it features a series of authentic details, from the classic British Racing Green paint combined with white roof, wing mirrors and racing stripes, to the opening doors, hood and trunk, detailed engine and separate spare tire compartment.

Furthermore, LEGO has designed the toy with a removable roof in order to grant players unobstructed access to the tan colored interior featuring patterned seats, veneer-style dashboard, turning steering wheel, and moving gearshift and handbrake. The replica also gets a spare wheel in a separate compartment, detailed engine and fog lights, while accessories include a picnic basket, bottle and blanket.

Consisting of 1,077 pieces, the replica is 250mm (9in) long, 140mm (5in) wide and 110mm (4in) tall, and is recommended for “big kids” aged 16 or more.

Set to go on sale on August 1, the LEGO Mini Cooper will be priced at $99.99 in the U.S., €89.99 in Germany and £74.99 in the UK.
