When Toyota launched first launched the Supra series back in 1978, the sports coupe was largely based on the Celica liftback featuring a longer and wider body, modified styling, better equipment and most importantly, an inline-six instead of a four-cylinder engine. This is why the car was marketed as the Celica Supra.

It wasn’t until the third generation model (Mark III) presented in 1986, that the Supra finally cut its umbilical cord with the Celica to carve its own niche within Toyota’s sports car range.

It were cars like the Celica Supra from the 1970s and 1980s that helped solidify Toyota’s reputation of quality, reliability and dependability that persists today, and seeing the condition of this 34-year-old example of the Mark I, it is not hard to understand why.

Of course, the fact that it only has 54,432 miles (87,581 km) surely helps…

According to the eBay seller, “[The] Vehicle is totally rust free. The original paint is in outstanding overall condition. There is one minor flaw in the paint under the gas tank door, see pics. There is NO rot or rust anywhere on this car! There are a few VERY minor dings on the bottom of the right front fender under the bumper”.

Power for this 1980 Celica Supra comes from a 2.8-liter straight six, rated (at the time) at 117hp (87kW) and paired to a four-speed auto driving the rear set of wheels.

Last we checked, the highest bid was a little over $4,000.
