In a story that took a bizarre twist right in front of the cameras, a murder suspect’s father drove his silver Nissan Sentra into a crowd of dozens of people at an apartment complex in southeast Houston, Texas.
The man behind the wheel has been identified as 38-year old Louis Dante Anthony III, the father of Louis D. Anthony IV, 18, who was a person of interest in a deadly shooting that took place in the apartment, which resulted in the death of 20-year-old Demarkus Harrison and the injury of one more person.
In the video, we see a group of angry people approaching the car with one them hurling a bicycle towards the vehicle, before Anthony III breaks away only to return seconds later plowing through the crowd. Luckily, he didn’t hit anyone and was apprehended moments later when he bailed out of the car while it was moving…
Anthony III wasn’t alone in the car as his fiancée Deshonna Smith was in the passenger seat. She told KHOU that Anthony III was defending himself.
“Why would I be in the car and let him do that,” asked Smith. “They came out here picking on him. This was self-defense.”
Smith said that the victim’s family was taunting her fiancée. “That’s when he got upset. The man threw the bicycle. Another man came and punched him in his face. That’s when you seen the car go up in the median,” she said. “The devil has taken over this whole apartment complex. This ain’t nothing but Satan’s playground.”
We’ll close this story with one of the more sensible voices in this episode, neighbor Tarethe Robinson, who said: “When will people learn that crime is not going to solve anything. You’re just killing yourselves off. It’s crazy.”
