You probably heard about Trident, the British brand that specializes in diesel sports cars. The company today unveiled the fastback version of the Iceni called Magna and the estate, called Venturer.
Furthermore, Trident said the Iceni is now available to order worldwide, with prices starting from £96,000 (€116,383) in the UK. The company says there is already a pre-launch waiting list for the three models, with availability being limited.
The diesel sports car has a top speed in excess of 190 mph (306 km/h) and is able to cover 2,000 miles (3,219 kilometers) on a single tank of mineral or bio-diesel. All three Iceni models are powered by a 6.6-liter turbo diesel V8 engine sourced from one of GM’s commercial trucks. Mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. The unit produces 395 hp and 700 lb-ft (948 Nm) of torque, allowing the Iceni to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds.
Trident says the Iceni uses torque multiplication technology to achieve this combination of speed, power and fuel efficiency. By using this technology, fuel efficiency increases by up to 20 percent. Trident says it has patented a “unique way of utilizing torque multiplication to improve performance and efficiency,” which has been incorporated into all their sports cars.
Standard equipment includes tilt and slide steering column, air conditioning system, electric windows, Konig K5000 G4 seats trimmed in leather and alcantara, radio CD with MP3 and Bluetooth, as well as active and passive safety systems including ABS, traction control and driver and passenger airbags.
