I can only think of one thing when looking at the Mercedes-Benz Concept Coupe: a BMW X6. Granted, it has the new trademark Mercedes nose treatment, but other than that, it looks a lot like its (controversial) Bavarian precursor.
Mercedes would never in a million years concede to having copied their fellow countrymen, but they have, and the look of the concept proves it.
How similar are they, we hear you ask? Well, we took the liberty to throw together a quick side-by-side gallery that puts the above into perspective.
We wonder if the Chinese copycat bug has bitten Mercedes too, when they were preparing for the Beijing Auto Show. They could have made the same sort of vehicle (a “sporty SUV with a coupe profile”), but without resorting to stealing the BMW’s trademark roofline and noticeably flared wheelarches.
Yes, it may be a prettier and sleeker sight overall than the X6 (whether it be the current or upcoming one), but that can hardly be called high praise…
