Celebrating its centenary, Morgan has revealed the Plus 8 Speedster, a special limited edition model. Set to go on sale in June, with deliveries commencing later in the summer, the Speedster is “the latest evolution of the Plus 8, offers an even more invigorating driving experience inspired by a bygone era of stripped back, road going race cars,” according to Morgan’s press blurb.

Power comes from the familiar BMW-sourced 4.8-liter naturally-aspirated V8 that’s good for 367 hp. The rear wheels are driven via a ZF six-speed automatic gearbox.

Being a relatively light sports car, the Plus 8 Speedster has no trouble in carrying itself past 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.2 seconds, before it hits the electronic buffers at 148 mph (237 km/h). Morgan says it “boasts a power to weight ratio to rival any vehicle in its class.”

Buyers will have extensive customization options at their disposal when they order the car, though that means they will be asked to pay extra over the announced UK price tag of £69,995; it includes VAT and is equivalent to €85,300 or $117,800.
