Less than a day after it was officially announced, we get our first (unofficial) look at the BMW 228i, with the optional Track Pack fitted.

The car is hardly distinguishable from regular 228i models, and it doesn’t show its 10 mm lower ride heigh. However, what is visible are the unique lightweight 18-inch rims riding on sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport rubber and upon closer inspection, the blue M-branded calipers of the M Sport brakes.

This Track Edtiion of the 228i is really a very promising sports car. The beefier 235i has already been praised for pure handling and an excellent blend of comfort and sportiness with an emphasis on the latter, and this lower-powered version would make a perfect beginner’s track car that doesn’t need a flatbed to be hauled arround.

It’d be the kind of car you bought if the Scion FRS just wasn’t powerful or plush enough for you.

Check it out in the video and photos posted below courtesy of BMW Blog, finished in a snazzy-looking coat of what appears to be some kind of pearlescent white.
