For Glenn Roberts, this 1967 Saab Sonett was the car he grew up with, so it was only natural to buy it from his parents for $300 when he turned 18. He drove it through college and into adulthood and still drives it to this day, following a thorough restoration in 2004.
Powered by an 850-cc 70hp three-cylinder two-stroke engine, the Sonett only weighed 1,500 lbs (680 lbs), thanks to its fiberglass body. It could reach a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph) and sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 12.5 seconds.
It’s an interesting car to look at and to drive, and on top of that it’s very rare: Saab only built 258 Sonett units with the two-stroke engine, as the engine was replaced in 1967 with a 1.5-liter V4 from the Ford Taunus.
