Lexus’ GS is not a mainstream luxury sedan, at least not in the same way the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series and Audi A6 are. However, as several reviews have pointed out since its launch, there are definitely things to like about the GS, and the latest official promo tries to point some of these out, using the very rivals mentioned above.

The ad mocks the BMW 528i for only having four cylinders, while the Mercedes’ foible is the lack of standard leather. Naturally, the Audi is bashed for being a front-wheel drive (biased) car – Quattro is optional on base models.

The GS definitely has its core target audience who wouldn’t buy any of the above and have plenty of reasons to justify it, it’s just that there are still more from the latter category than there are Lexus lovers, so the balance of power in the luxury sector doesn’t look set to change dramatically any time soon.
