Porsche has released the first details about the new Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS, the most powerful versions of the carmaker’s entry-level models. Compared to the Cayman S and Boxster S models, the new models get an additional 15hp from the 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine, which now delivers 326 hp (330PS) in the Boxster GTS and 335 hp (340PS) in the Cayman GTS. Torque has also increased by 10 Nm (7 lb-ft) in each model.

Both models are fitted as standard with the Sport Chrono package, which in conjunction with the optional PDK double-clutch gearbox and the active Sport Plus button, helps the Cayman GTS sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, while the Boxster GTS does it in 4.7 seconds.

Top speed is 285 km/h (177 mph) for the Cayman GTS and 281 km/h (175 mph) for the Boxster GTS – both measured with the standard manual six-speed transmission. The updated engine is Euro6-compliant and delivers 8.2 l /100 km (28.7 mpg US) with PDK and 9 l/100 km (26.1 mpg US) with manual transmission.

The new GTS (Gran Turismo Sport) versions also sport styling updates compared to lesser models including redesigned front and rear bumpers, blackened bi-xenon headlights with the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) as standard, black 20-inch alloy wheels and exterior lettering in silky black gloss.

On the inside, the Porsche Cayman GTS and Boxster GTS get sports seats and leather interiors as standard, as well as Alcantara elements. Both models will launch in May 2014, with prices in Germany (including VAT) starting from €69,949 ($97,327) for the Boxster GTS and €73,757 ($102,692) for the Cayman GTS.
