One runs out of original ways in which to praise the old E60 BMW M5, but even if you don’t agree with the positive publicity it’s been getting ever since the F10-generation turbocharged replacement came out, you should at least concede that the first makes you weak at the knees, while the other just does not.

One way of putting the not entirely positive general opinion about it nicely and amusingly is the approach in the CarThrottle video below…

It doesn’t shy away from pointing out what the M5 is, what it isn’t and how what it has, pulls it towards one direction or the other.

One thing’s for sure, though: portrayed like this, it doesn’t look like a sports saloon to me, but rather a very fast limousine with soft-closing doors, many cameras and a lot of buttons.

I think BMW has really got their work cut out for them in reinventing the M5 formula and applying it to the upcoming all-new 5-Series. They need to make it as cool as if it had the glorious V10 of ages past, but without actually giving it the engine; it’s a tall order.
