The 2014 Formula One season kicks off this weekend in Australia, so Infiniti Red Bull Racing thought it’s a good moment to explain the significant changes that take place this year in the series.
Using computerized animations and its drivers Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo as voice-overs, Red Bull shows us the main changes that have been implemented to its 2014 Formula One car, the RB10. We see the new car compared to last year’s car, the RB9, with the changes being highlighted for better understanding.
As a reminder, Formula One cars didn’t only change their appearance for 2014, but also switched from naturally-aspirated 2.4-liter V8 engines to turbocharged 1.6-liter V6 units, gained new 8-speed transmissions and an enhanced energy recovery system (ERS).
Furthermore, the racing cars will have 30 percent less fuel in the tank and each driver will only have five engines at his disposal for the entire season, which includes 19 races this year.
See all these new features explained (and many more) in Red Bull’s video posted below.
