If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all; that sounds about right in the case of the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad that we first laid eyes on at the Chicago Auto Show and which will soon launch in Europe as the new Fiat Freemont Cross.

If you have read the details about the Dodge model, you can save yourself some time, as the only differences between the two cars, aside from the clear markers on the headlamps, are the engine choices.

Whereas the Journey Crossroad is available with two gasoline units, a 173hp 2.4-liter inline-four and a 283hp 3.6-liter V6, the Freemont Cross offers a choice of two diesels.

These include a 138hp (140PS) 2.0-liter Multijet II with a 6sp manual and front wheel drive, and a 168hp (170PS) 2.0-liter Multijet II, available both in a FWD version with a manual gearbox and an active AWD version teamed exclusively with a 6sp automatic.

In essence, the Cross package is a cosmetic upgrade over the regular Fiat Freemont with new bumpers featuring silver and black accents, lower side sills, a black grille, smoked lights all around, and 19-inch black alloy wheels, along with some new appointment inside, such as the black leather seats with sports mesh fabric inserts and light grey top stitching, and graphite trims.

We’ll see the new Freemont Cross for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
