Nissan announced the launch of the all-new Dayz Roox in Japan, a taller version of the Dayz kei car that debuted last year. The second model in the Nissan Dayz series, the Roox is a super height wagon-type minicar that features automatic sliding rear doors for easier access.
Its main advantage, according to Nissan, is the packaging that “delivers both spaciousness and ease-of-use”. The car features convenience features such as the Around View Monitor that offers a virtual 360-degree view of the car from a bird’s-eye perspective, super UV-cut heat-insulated green glass that filters out up to 99 percent of ultraviolet rays and a touch screen automatic air-conditioning system.
As opposed to the regular Dayz model, the Dayz Roox features automatic sliding side doors, as well as tinted glass all around the body that creates a “floating roof” appearance.
Nissan says the Dayz Roox provides excellent maneuverability thanks to its compact minimum turning radius of 4.4 meters (173.2 inches) and exceptional outward vision due to its large glazed area and narrow A-pillars. The Dayz Roox has an interior height of 1,400mm (55.1in) and can accommodate a 27-inch bicycle.
The Japanese kei car features a new battery-assist technology developed by the NKMV joint venture between Nissan and Mitsubishi. The system charges a nickel-hydrogen battery during deceleration and uses the energy to power electrical equipment, such as the audio and navigation systems. By reducing the need for power from the alternator, gasoline consumption is improved, decreasing the stress on the engine.
The Nissan Dayz Roox is powered by a 0.7-liter three-cylinder petrol engine producing 48hp (49PS). Prices start from 1,240,050 yen ($12,174) in Japan, including consumption tax.
