There’s nothing like a WRC manufacturer’s or driver’s title to add some mojo to a car brand’s lineup and marketing efforts, and Citroen has plenty of them – eight and nine titles respectively. However, in 2013, it was VW and French driver Sébastien Ogier who nabbed the title, so what gives with Citroen’s special edition DS3 Racing for Japan?

Well, oddly enough, the French carmaker says it’s celebrating its previous titles with the release of the DS3 Racing Mat Gold, of which only 20 cars will be made, each priced at 3.8 million yen (about $37,200 or €27,400).

The package is purely cosmetic sans the 10mm lowered suspension, with the DS3 Racing covered in a matte gunmetal grey color with gold finish accents, roof and wheels, plus carbon fiber trimmed wheel arches and spoilers, on the outside, with the same exact colors and materials used in the interior.

As with the regular version of the car, the Mat Gold edition features a 1.6-liter turbocharged four delivering 207PS (204hp).
