Some may find its color-scheme meh, but the new Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross GRC Beetle promises to be a no-nonsense racing model with all-wheel drive and a TSI turbo packing more than 560-horses under the hood.

Set to make its world premiere today at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, the GRC Beetle is the work of Volkswagen of America and Andretti Sports Marketing, and it will participate in the Red Bull Global Rallycross series driven by 2011 and 2012 GRC champion Tanner Foust and ex-F1 and NASCAR star Scott Speed.

“Red Bull Global Rallycross is the perfect form of motor sports for a youthful, exuberant, and growing brand in the U.S. market,” said Michael Horn, CEO of the VW Group of America. “We’re excited to partner with Andretti Autosport, one of the great names in American motor sports, and delighted that we will be running the iconic Beetle in the series.”

We’ll have our first chance to see the GRC Beetle in action at the Summer X Games in Austin, Texas.
